White Rock midwives celebrate new space

Grand opening of Ostara Midwifery's new location to be marked May 7

A White Rock midwifery clinic is celebrating new and expanded space with an open house in honour of International Day of Midwives.

The event at Ostara Midwifery, at 204A-15210 North Bluff Rd., is set for 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

Registered midwives Janice Robinson and Bridget Mensah will be on hand to answer questions and give clinic tours. As well, local community health professionals – including naturopaths, a chiropractor, a hypnobirthing instructor, doulas and an aromatherapist – will be on hand.

Robinson, who opened Ostara in White Rock in January 2015, has more than 30 years experience working with women and their families in a variety of social and health programs. She is also certified as a lactation educator and hypnobirthing instructor, according to a news release.

Bridget Mensah – trained as a registered nurse and a registered midwife in Ghana, West Africa, where she was born and raised in a family of 16 – joined the practice last October, after moving to Canada in 2012 and practicing in Saskatchewan.
