80th Legacy Reception to honour generations of volunteers

The Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce prepares for a year-long celebration of its 80th anniversary

As the Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce prepares for a year-long celebration of its 80th anniversary, it is leading off with celebrating the generations of Board Presidents, Directors and Staff who have provided leadership over the past eight decades.

These individuals will be hosted and honored by the Chamber on May 31 at a “Legacy Reception” held at the Campbell River Museum.

Volunteer Legacy Reception co-chairs, Mary Ashley, past Chamber Director 1979, and Jim Harris, past Chamber President 1984 are determined to ensure that the invitation list is complete.

“The Chamber’s 80-year legacy is one of business leadership and advocacy in support of our members and service to the community overall.   As the voice of business, the Chamber continues this long standing service, made possible because so many dedicated individuals volunteered their talent, time and energy,” Ashley says.

Mary and Jim are asking all former Board Presidents, Directors to contact the Chamber and verify that the Chamber has up to date contact information for the guest list for the reception.

Contact the Chamber’s Lindsey Innes at 250-287-4636 or email her at mbrservices@campbellriverchamber.ca  to confirm with her your contact information.

2012 Chamber President Gary Thulin, whose family has a long standing tradition of volunteering and leadership on the Chamber Board, says: “The Chamber has a proud history in our community. Our legacy reception on May 31st will be a great opportunity for our extended family of Board leadership volunteers to celebrate with us their contribution to Campbell River and our business community.”
