AAC seeks design for Arty trophy

Proposals must be submitted to Abbotsford Arts Council by Jan. 3

Have a great design idea for the 2014 Arty Awards? The Abbotsford Arts Council (AAC) wants to see them.

The AAC has put out a request for proposals for original, handmade, 3-D sculptures that will become the objects bestowed to 2014 winners of the 10th annual awards, scheduled to happen April 12 at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium.

Designs in all mediums, including clay, wood, glass, copper and more will be accepted until Jan. 3, 2014. All designs must incorporate “Arty,” the artistic doodle contained in the AAC’s logo.

The awards program is an AAC initiative to honour individuals who have achieved excellence in their art as well as arts advocates who have contributed significantly to the local arts scene.

Proposal application forms and guidelines can be found at abbotsfordartscouncil.org, or at the Kariton Art Gallery, 2387 Ware St. The gallery’s hours are Tuesday to Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For additional information, call 604-852-9358 or send an email to abbotsfordartscouncil@gmail.com.
