Alberni Valley Paint Out back in action

On Saturday, Sept. 10 artists will paint at Sproat Lake Provincial Park at various locations and on Sunday, Sept. 11 at Harbour Quay.

The fourth annual Alberni Valley Paint Out is happening Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the support of DRAW Gallery in conjunction with the International Plein Air Painters (IPAP) 14th Great Worldwide Paint Out.

On Saturday, Sept. 10 artists will paint at Sproat Lake Provincial Park at various locations and on Sunday, Sept. 11 at Harbour Quay. At 4:30 p.m. on Sunday there will be an exhibit of the weekend’s work and a reception at The Starboard Grill at the Harbour Quay. The public is invited to view the art and meet the artists.

Life Drawing workshops at DRAW Gallery begin again on Sept. 12 and continue each week.

Feature live model figure drawings, artists gather together to paint, sketch or sculpt from different live models. The models will provide a long pose, which will give participants time to complete their work.

Teen night at the gallery welcomes all young artists every Monday from 6-8 p.m. ‘Open Studio’ takes place every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The fee to participate is $12.50 for adults and $6.50 for teens. Artists can also pre-register for five sessions for a fee of $60. Space is limited. Call Astrid at 250-724-2056 and book your spot.

The group exhibit ‘Fall in Love with Art’ comes to the DRAW Gallery from Sept. 8 to Nov. 25.

The artists’ reception takes place on Friday, Sept. 23 from 6-8 p.m. at DRAW Gallery. The gallery is open Thursdays and Fridays from 12 – 5 p.m. and by appointment.

The gallery offers an exhibition of paintings, photography, mixed media and installations by local and Island artists. Also, featuring work from the fourth Annual Alberni Valley Paint Out.
