Hang onto your hats! It’s almost time for the 100 Mile House Cowboy Concert.
The annual concert will take place on Feb. 11 at the Martin Exeter Hall in 100 Mile House.
Juno-winner Gary Fjellgaard will headline the concert with his soulful western roots music and witty and entertaining performances.
People can look forward to Fjellgaard playing some “good old folky-kinda cowboy songs,” says Mark McMillan, BC Cowboy Heritage Society president. He says 100 Mile is lucky to have Fjellgaard coming, especially since he is donating his time to the concert this year.
Emily Ireland will add some cowboy poetry to the lineup. The 21-year-old won last year’s Spirit of the West Rising Star Showcase at the Kamloops Cowboy Festival.
Rounding out the concert is the well-known Ed Wahl. Locals may have heard him before at the 108 Canada Day celebration, the Barkerville Drover Day weekend, or past Cowboy Concerts.
In its seventeenth year, the concert started as a fundraiser for a local cowboy. Now, all the proceeds go towards the BC Cowboy Heritage Society’s student scholarships and the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame.
The concert is put on by the BC Cowboy Heritage Society and features both a 2 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening performance.
Tickets are $15 and can be found in 100 Mile at PMT Professional Chartered Accountants LLP, 100 Mile Feed & Ranch Supply and Work n Play or in Williams Lake at PMT Professional Chartered Accountants.
