Artist, calligrapher team up for “Cipher”

The work of Miles Lowry, above, and calligrapher Georgia Angelopoulos is featured in an exhibit starting this weekend at the Martin Batchelor Gallery.

The work of painter-sculptor Miles Lowry and calligrapher Georgia Angelopoulos will be exhibited at the Martin Batchelor Gallery, 712 Cormorant St. Opening reception happens Friday (Mar. 11) from 7 to 9 p.m.

On Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m., Angelopoulos will put on a demonstration of her art, using traditional and contemporary tools and mediums: reed pens, quills, brushes and metal nibs on parchment and paper. She will also explain the process of illumination of the book tradition, using pigments, traditional glues and gold leaf.
