A solo exhibition for local artist Serena Trinder will be held at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St.) from Feb. 7 to March 3, with the opening reception on Feb. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Trinder’s exhibit is called A Tale of Two Countries and explores man’s changing relationship with his environment.

“This collection of works is meant to evoke memories of wonder and joy and take the viewer on a journey as they travel through the beautiful landscapes of transatlantic cousins, Canada and Britain,” said Trinder.

Having moved to Canada from Dorset, England, in 2010, Trinder now lives in Mission.

She creates work inspired mainly by landscapes and architecture, strongly influenced by the great European stained glass windows, which she visited during her childhood.

While in England, Trinder sold private work and illustrated books. Since arriving in Canada, she has exhibited in several private galleries throughout the Fraser Valley and held two exhibitions at the Mission Arts Centre.

In 2013, she was awarded the Muse Award in the Visual Arts: Emerging Artist category.
