Award-winning director and Trinity Western University professor, Angela Konrad will share her views and experiences with the public on Saturday (Feb. 18).
Her presentation, called A Director’s Journey, is part of the Gallery 7 Theatre Society’s series of Theatre Side Chats.
“The goal of our Side Chat series is to go behind the curtain and explore why theatre and the arts are so important to our community and to our culture,” said Ken Hildebrandt, Gallery 7’s executive director.
“This season, we’ve been looking at what makes an artist tick. Why do they do what they do and why is their work so important to the intellectual and spiritual well-being of our community? With this next chat, we’ll be exploring the person and role of the director.”
Konrad, winner of the Jessie Award for her direction of Grace at Pacific Theatre, will be sharing her story of how she became a theatre professional, how she balances faith with the stories she shares, and what it’s like to work in the Vancouver theatre scene. She is chair of the theatre program at Trinity Western University, where she teaches acting and directing. She has directed many productions at TWU, including The Importance of Being Earnest, Holy Mo, As it is in Heaven, The Heiress, Two Rooms and The Miracle Worker.
The chat takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the House of James, 2743 Emerson St. Admission is $5.
