Like the great Moby Dick, something big is coming to Vernon.

On Friday, Powerhouse Theatre is going to be something even old Herman Hesse might write about when two of Vernon’s hottest rock ‘n roll outfits harpoon the hearts and minds of all in attendance.

Swabbing the deck will be Paperboy and Amistad.

Paperboy, who have a new bass player in tow, has been burning a trail across the music scene in the B.C. Interior and have been asked to play festivals in Tofino and Alberta this summer.

Like Paperboy, Amistad’s live performances are renowned for being highly energetic and entertaining.

The band won Best Stage Performance at the 2012 Our Kids Have Talent music competition, and members say they like to make their shows fun and unique by dressing up and entertaining the crowd.

Their act has won praises from fellow musicians.

“Their stunning attention to detail, their ear for mood and incorporation of nature into their sound has had me recommending these young bucks to everyone I know. They are Vernon’s band to watch,” said Luke Mortenson, lead singer, guitarist with Paperboy.

Paperboy and Amistad take the stage at Powerhouse Friday  at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 on sale at the Bean Scene, from band members and at the door.
