Clearwater and District Minor Hockey is receiving $5,000 from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development to host the Tier 4 Bantam Provincials. The event will take place March 18 – 23, 2012.

The money is part of more than $295,000 to the ministry is giving to support 61 sporting events hosted in communities all over British Columbia during the coming months.

“I’m very happy to see so many different sports groups taking advantage of the Hosting BC program, which provides significant help to so many sporting events all across the province,” said Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister Ida Chong. “This demonstrates the importance of major sporting events to B.C. communities. I am glad our government is able to assist.”

The grants have been awarded to successful applicants who applied to Hosting BC in April 2011. These grants are helping a wide range of events – from the 2012 Canadian Ringette Championships in Burnaby to the Provincial Criterium Cycling Championships in Whistler – with events taking place in communities ranging from Agassiz and Grand Forks to Fort St. John and Panorama.
