Birth Fair is hosting a fun event at BuyBuy Baby in Langley on Sunday, Feb. 12.

From 1 to 3 p.m., the public is invited to join artist Carolyn Manchulenko as she paints nine pregnant bellies to bring awareness to Birth Fair, an educational and shopping event for expecting and new parents happening Feb. 25 and 26 at the Cloverdale Agriplex.

“We want people who are thinking about babies or living with a new baby to be able to make educated choices when it comes to the health and care of mother and baby,” said Christie Weber, Birth Fair founder and event producer.

“This is the driving spirit behind Birth Fair, and is perfectly in line with the Foundations’ vision of healthy women, healthy babies and healthy families.”

During this Sunday’s preview, Manchulenko will use safe, hypoallergenic paints created specifically for delicate skin, to paint works of art on pregnant bellies that are custom designed for each client. She then photographs them to capture the art to cherish for a lifetime.

The women receiving painted bellies will be selected ahead of time and anyone interested can contact info@birthfair.com.

Tickets to Birth Fair are $5 each, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to BC Women’s Hospital Foundation.
