Cornucopia of choral music offered at Parksville performance

The Cantando Chamber Singers under the direction of Ann Barber will be filling the air with love songs at a concert Saturday, April 14 at Knox United Church in Parksville.

Presented by the Parksville and District Musical Association Love in Many Guises will include songs sung a cappella and with an a musical accompaniment.

Some of the songs on the program include The Northwest Passage by Canada’s folk icon Stan Rogers, Henry Purcell’s lyrical Fairest Isle and the Scottish lament Skye Boat Songs.

The group has not forgotten that mysterious love of the unknown and has included gospel songs like Hold Me, Rock Me.

The performers will sing about lost love and have included the ballads Le Pont Mirabeau, She’s Like the Swallow and Scarborough Fair and there are some silly love songs from Gilbert and Sullivan.

The performance is April 14 at 2 p.m. at Knox United Church,  345 Pym St. Parksville.

 

Tickets which include refreshments are $12 adults/$10 seniors and students and are available at the door.
