The Cantiamo Chamber Ensemble has been invited to perform a showcase concert in late April at the prestigious Canadian Rocky Mountain Festival in Banff, Alta.
Cantiamo is a youth chamber choir based in the Comox Valley comprised of 25 singers aged 13 to 26.
This will be the second time Cantiamo has been featured in a showcase concert.
Each year, the festival invites a handful of choirs and bands to perform special evening concerts for the other attendants of the festival. They will also sing in the adjudicated portion of the festival.
To raise funds for this tour, the Ensemble will hold a large fundraising event this Saturday.
The event will feature a bake sale, a bottle drive and a barbeque as well as a multi-family garage sale, and will take place at 4664 Madrona Pl. in Courtenay (across from Van’s Portraits and Valley Dance Centre).
Donations of recyclable bottles/cans will be accepted. Proceeds from this event will go directly toward the Banff tour.
In addition to this, the Ensemble has opened an account with the Bottle and Return-It Depot on Puntledge Road in Courtenay. Any donations of returnable bottles/cans from your household or place of business would be greatly appreciated.
When returning bottles, ask the cashier before the transaction begins to put the funds into the Cantiamo account. Large quantities can be dropped off at the garage sale event or can be picked up at your convenience by a choir member.
