The sounds of the holiday season will come alive as the Penticton Tune-Agers perform at a special concert early next month.
“It puts us in the mood for Christmas,” said Peggy Whitley, a member of the musical group.
She added that the concert will feature a mix of traditional and modern music, not all of it Christmas songs.
There are around 60 singers and musicians in the Tune-Agers. Some of the pieces will feature singers without accompaniment while others will be orchestral numbers.
The Summerland concert has been a tradition in Summerland, but it was not held last year.
Conductor Gerald Nadeau began working with the musical group in September, 2011. Because of the transition to a new conductor, the concert was cancelled.
“Each new conductor brings new things to the group,” Whitley said.
This year’s concert will be held Dec. 9 at 2:30 p.m. at Summerland United Church. Tickets are available at Indulgences, from any member of the Tune-Agers or at the door.
