This weekend’s Music On Sunday will range from classical to contemporary.
Paul Roe will be performing at The Old Schoolhouse Arts Centre (122 Fern Rd., Qualicum Beach) on Oct. 2 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Tickets are $18.

Roe, a musician from Ireland, was the principal clarinet of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Concorde Contemporary Music Ensemble and he’s given solo, ensemble and orchestral performances throughout Europe, Asia and America.
Roe has particular interests in coaching and mentoring, performance and education. He has a PhD in Performance Practice from the University of York and a master’s degree in Community Music from the University of Limerick.
Roe is also a member of the teaching staff at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin and the Dublin Institute of Technology Conservatory of Music and Drama.
Roe will be playing a mix of classical and contemporary music. The first half of the show, The Voice of the Clarient, Roe will be accompanied by pianist Charlotte Hale and during the second half, The Clarinet Takes Flight, Roe will be joined by guest clarinetist Patricia Kostek.
Kostek has performed with the Pacific Opera Victoria, the Victoria Symphony, the Lafayette String Quartet, and other critically-acclaimed ensembles.
She has also performed with nurmerous orchestras in North America and Europe, including the Chicago Symphony, Honolulu Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, the Orquestra Sinfonica de teatro Colon de Buenos Aires and the Orquestra Sinfonica da Bahia.
Sunday’s program will range from Mozart to Schumann to Rossini to Klezmer and contemporary masters such as Paolo Costa Lima and W.O. Smith.
