Concert in the park

The Envision Twilight Concert Series presents the Mission Secondary School jazz band on June 10 at Fraser River Heritage Park. The group will perform a range of jazz hits spanning seven decades. Concert admission is free, but donations are encouraged. For more information, call 604-826-0277.

Book signing

Abbotsford author Gertie Pool will be signing copies of her latest book on June 11 at House of James bookstore, from 10 a.m. to noon. Cry for Freedom is a historical novel based on true facts from her family’s wartime experiences.

Jazz show

Dance party

Dance in Motion celebrates its 25th anniversary season with special performances by local So You Think You Can Dance Canada finalist Charlene Hart. The dancer joins the studio’s year-end recitals with show finalist Mackenzie Green. Shows start at 6:30 p.m. on June 15 and 16 at Abbotsford Arts Centre. Tickets are $15. Scottish fancy

The Inverglen Scottish Dancers present A Scottish Fancy at Mouat Secondary Theatre on June 17 at 7:30 p.m.  The evening will feature Highland, Scottish Country step dancing as well as piping and fiddling. Tickets are $12. For more info, visit www.inverglenscottishdancers.com.

Live at the Reach

The Reach presents JouTou in concert on June 17. The group performs French and North African music, Gypsy, French Caribbean and Quebecois songs. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15, or $12 for students.

Book Release

Local author Darrell Swanson is holding a book release event on June 18 at the House of James. The evening will feature special guest Sir James Barlow, who is the great grandson of Charles Darwin. The event runs 7:30-9 p.m.
