Crowe croons her way to the big screen with a role in the Man of Steel

NANAIMO - Allison Crowe makes debut on the big screen in upcoming Superman movie.

Allison Crowe is appearing onscreen with a capped crusader who is faster than a speeding bullet.

The singer, originally from Nanaimo who now lives in Newfoundland, landed a role in the upcoming movie Man of Steel.

“The experience of filming on Man of Steel was one of the most fulfilling and insanely exciting experiences I’ve ever had,” said Crowe in a press release. “I was so excited I couldn’t sleep the night before. I am so incredibly humbled and overwhelmed and grateful to be part of all of this – and it couldn’t have been with a lovelier group of people.”

Crowe said she couldn’t give too much information about her part in the movie before the film’s debut, but said everyone involved in the production was down to earth. “I can’t say much about it and that’s part of the fun. My lips are sealed,” she said. “I will never, ever forget it. Honestly, I can think back to it now and still freak out in the best way ever.”

Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder and features Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, Kevin Costner as Pa Kent, Diane Lane as Ma Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and more.

Man of Steel, the 3D version of the movie, debuts at Nanaimo’s Galaxy Cinema Thursday (June 13) at 10 p.m.

Crowe is also releasing her 11th album June 25.

Her album, Newfoundland Vinyl, was inspired by her work as music director for Theatre Newfoundland and work in Labrador’s production of Newfoundland Vinyl: The Flip Side at the Gros Morne Theatre Festival.

The album includes some traditional songs such as Skipper Billy’s Wake, Sonny’s Dream and Tiny Red Light.
