Rock musician Dallas Smith is coming out country at the Clarke Theatre on Sept. 27.
Smith, a 10-year veteran and front man for Default has stepped over to the world of country music and will be promoting his debut album, Jumped Right In, in Mission. There have been five top 10 singles so far, Nothing But Summer, What Kinda Love, Jumped Right In, Somebody Somewhere, and If it Gets Where You Wanna Go.
To Smith, country music has always been about the special combination of voice and song.
“I’ve always chosen and written songs with challenging vocals that I love to sing,” said Smith.
Smith will be joined by special guests The Matinee and Me and Mae. The Matinee is made up of five members who have known each other since high school. Eager to colour outside the lines, the band finds itself in the rare position of being welcome at both rural festivals and the urban hipster ground zero of your choice. After years of roadwork and growth, The Matinee delivers an explosive live show renowned for its uproar of stomping, clapping, and blazing chops.
Me and Mae are rising country stars Shawn Meehan and Jacky Mae. With a blend of straight up country influenced by the legendary Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton, the power country of Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, Me and Mae have created a sound of their own. Along with a busy touring schedule, the team is also working on a debut album.
The concert is presented by Rock.It Boy Entertainment and Country 107.1.
Tickets to the Friday, Sept.27 show are $32.50 each and available at all Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.ca, or by calling 1-885-985-5000.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. The Clarke Theatre is located at 33700 Prentis Ave.
