A Christmas wonderland full of singing, dancing and hot mulled apple cranberry returns to Cedar community hall

A Christmas wonderland full of singing, dancing and hot mulled apple cranberry returns to Cedar community hall.

For the fifth year in a row, the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular takes to the stage with a mix of popular and holiday favourites.

Among the thousands of decorations and lights hung from the rafters, five dancers, four singers and five musicians perform to the music arranged by violinist and composer James Mark.

Shawna Parry, currently performing in West Side Story with Vancouver Opera, is designing choreography.

“The team and surrounding community create such a supportive environment to create and entertain in,” Parry said. “Each year becomes more and more like a little blissful haven.”

This year’s extravaganza features a Buddy Holly tribute, Michael Jackson hits, songs from Dirty Dancing and Flashdance, war-time tunes like Vera Lynn’s We’ll Meet Again, medleys from Carmen and The Nutcracker, plus traditional Christmas songs.

Producer Katy Bowen-Roberts made her annual trek to London to fill the stage with sparkle and bling.

The show is scheduled for Dec. 7-12, 15-18, with two shows in Courtenay Dec. 13-14, at 7 p.m. Tickets $33; $24/students; $28/groups of 10 or more. Please call 250-754-8550 or visit www.porttheatre.com.
