Enderby is immersed in art

Enderby's Courtyard Gallery celebrates its one-year anniversary with a special auction and student exhibition.

Enderby politicians have uncovered their artistic side through an event celebrating the one-year anniversary of Courtyard Gallery.

On March 15, artists from the gallery got together with eight city councilors to create works of art.

The completed works are now on exhibit at the gallery until April 25, when they will go up for auction at the Enderby Legion.

The event coincides with a full day of celebrations with birthday cake, refreshments and door prizes, then moves to the legion for the auction at 6 p.m., said Courtyard chairperson Tatianna O’Donnell.

“With live music and a professional auctioneer, this promises to be an exciting event,” she said.

Courtyard Gallery is also hosting the  Enderby Student Art Show, in conjunction with the Enderby and District Arts Council  and the Enderby Artists’ Initiative, April 12 to 22.

An opening reception takes place April 12  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with refreshments offered.

The show is open to students aged eight to 18.

“We have received artwork from the local schools but also from excited children coming into the gallery with their parents,” said O’Donnell. “This is our first endeavour with student art and (we) are pleased to show their beautiful work to the public in this location.”
