Coming up on Monday, March 7, at 7 p.m., Dorothy Tinning, visual artist and honorary fellow of Okanagan College will be giving a presentation entitled The Essential Elements for an Artist.
This session will provide a personal look at how the Okanagan Landscape is a vital source of inspiration for her as a visual artist, which provides the “pathways of creativity” for her ideas.
Tinning said these connections to places are meaningful, and make a difference to herself and others.
The audience will have the chance to experience the art of Dorothy Tinning, and be able to view some of her acrylic on canvas paintings that celebrate nature and the history and culture of the land.
Tinning graduated with a Bachelor of Education from UBC, followed by art education courses through the University of Victoria.
Dorothy’s studio and gallery is located in Penticton, and she is an active volunteer teacher with the Kids@Art program at the Penticton Art Gallery, and is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
The presentation will be held in the lecture theatre at the Penticton campus of Okanagan College (583 Duncan Ave. West).
There is no charge for parking in the college lot after 6 p.m.
Admission is by donation to the Dire Straits Fund at Okanagan College.
