The New Orleans Ale Stars
The New Orleans Ale Stars are performing at the Reach Gallery on Friday, April 29.
Their album Kansas City Kitty won the Jeff Healey Award for best traditional/classic jazz album in Canada in 2007. Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15, students $12.
Festival of the Voice
The 10th annual Festival of the Voice is taking place on Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at St. Dunstan Anglican Church, 3025-264 St. Aldergrove.
The show will feature the multi-faceted Joy Vox Community Choir; the all women’s chamber choir, Voce Destino; Kitchen Sync, a group that embodies folk, jazz and rock; and special guest Jennifer Scott, a vocalist and jazz pianist specializing in jazz, blues and world music.
Tickets are $15 at the door, children under 12 are free. Proceeds go to the Red Cross for Japan.
DIrectors’ Festival
The 16th annual Directors’ Theatre Festival is taking place at the University of the Fraser Valley in Chilliwack, 45635 Yale Rd. from April 27 to May 1.
The festival is a fringe- style event, featuring numerous one-act plays over a five-day period. This year’s schedule offers 24 productions, some by established playwrights, as well as original plays by student writers. There will be a series of matinees and previews on Wednesday, April 27.
The opening ceremony is on Thursday, April 28 at 4.30 p.m. The festival will conclude on May 1 at 11 p.m. Tickets for individual productions are $5 each, with four packs of tickets selling for $15.

Bard in the Valley
Auditions will be held Sunday, May 1 from 1-4:30 p.m. to cast the Bard in the Valley’s August production of As You Like It, by William Shakespeare.
It’s the second annual Bard in the Valley Shakespearean Festival. Call-backs will take place on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m.

Sabir Sisters
A spring benefit concert for Communitas Supportive Care Society featuring the Sabir Sisters will take place on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, 3471 Clearbrook Rd.
The fundraising focus is the Family Support Network (FSN), a network for families that have a child or sibling with a disability.

Bergmann Piano Duo
The Valley Concert Society presents the Bergmann Piano Duo in concert on Friday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way.

The duo received first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta, Italy, and were laureates of The fourth Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition.
Double the Love
Award-winning photographer Jason Brown and contemporary painter Sharon Huget, are being featured in an exhibition in Abbotsford next month. The show will be hosted at Revival Arts studio, 35628 Kahana Pl.
