Folk duo, hip-hop MC to sway Armstrong

It’ll be an evening of folk ‘n hip hop when Hard Row and Immaculate perform at the next Valley First Music in the Park in Armstrong.

It’ll be an evening of folk ‘n hip hop when two Okanagan acts perform at the next Valley First Music in the Park in Armstrong.

The concert features Armstrong father-daughter duo Hard Row and Vernon-bred MC Immaculate, who will perform Friday, July, 8 7-9 p.m., at the Lions Gazebo in Memorial Park

Hard Row’s Kaila and Kim Sinclair have performed together since Kaila was 10 years old and she hauled her dad onto the stage to play guitar with her in her elementary school talent show.

Both are involved with the music and theatre scene in Armstrong and have performed at various coffee houses, fundraisers, and open mics throughout the North Okanagan.

Hard Row has also played at the Princeton Traditional Music Festival for the past three years, where their unique blend of vocals and guitar showcase the traditional and folk music they love.

Two-time Vancouver Island Music Award winner and Western Canadian Music Association nominee Immaculate (Vernon-raised artist Julian Wolansky) has pursued his passions – writing, recording, producing and performing – since he was 15.

Although his tastes and styles have evolved, his dedication to creating clean, high-quality, meaningful tracks that speak directly to his audience has never wavered.

Consistent, creative effort and collaboration has paid off. Immaculate has earned his reputation as a strong live performer, having toured across eight countries with established names including Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko; rocking festivals like Center of Gravity, Keloha, Hidden Music Festival and the Golden Sound Festival, and warming up audiences for numerous established names such as A$AP Rocky, Three 6 Mafia, Xzibit and many others.

The critically acclaimed rapper has also developed a solid buzz with sales of his six solo albums. His music has charted on college radio and won several songwriting competitions.

Immaculate has six official music videos, one of which earned him a B.C. Independent Music Association nomination for Video of the Year.

His sixth independent release, Solitude, highlights a new depth and maturity in Immaculate’s writing and production and features powerful tracks, drawing from a family tragedy that exemplifies the growth of an artist reinventing himself with every song.

Presented by the Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce and Valley First credit union, Music in the Park attendees can bring a non-perishable food item for Valley First’s Feed the Valley program, supported by volunteers from Armstrong Bible Chapel. Monetary donations can also be made at the nearest Valley First branch, online through valleyfirst.com, or through the Food Banks B.C. online donations portal.
