The Fort Gallery is holding a number of events in April inspired by post-Impressionist painter, Paul Cézanne.
To begin, on April 6 from 7 to 9 p.m., they will host a poetry reading and book launch for Fort Langley poet Susan McCaslin. Her new book, Painter, Poet, Mountain: After Cézanne, is a response to engagement with Cézanne’s works and life while living in Aix-en-Provence for three months in 2012.
Toronto-based poet Penn Kemp will also be doing a poetry performance that evening.
To complement the launch, Fort Gallery members have created a group exhibit inspired by Cézanne. Works will encompass figure painting, still-life and landscape, all influenced by the style of Cézanne, but with contemporary and locally thematic twists.
That exhibit will run April 5 to 23.
