Members of the Vernon Public Art Gallery are exposing themselves once again – through their art.
The VPAG’s annual members’ exhibition Exposed! focuses on creating exhibition opportunities for gallery members and contains both two and three-dimensional works of art of modest sizes.
“We want to say thank you to our members for the support they provide us throughout the year and this exhibition is our chance to do that,” said VPAG executive director Dauna Kennedy Grant.
The ambiguous title Exposed! is open to interpretation. Artists are free to use the medium of their choice for their artwork, which adds a variety of pieces to the show.
The exhibition is also a fund-raiser for the gallery. All the art is available for purchase and proceeds support the artists who created the work, with a small percentage going back to support the gallery in aid of its exhibitions and programming.
“Because the works of art are of a modest size, the prices are reasonable and a great opportunity for art lovers to own or gift an original piece of art,” said Kennedy Grant.
Those attending the show can also vote for their favourite piece.
“A Gallery Shop gift certificate will be awarded to the recipient of the People’s Choice award as voted by gallery visitors,” said Kennedy Grant.
Those wanting first pick of the art can attend the opening reception for Exposed! Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The evening will include music, art, food, as well as libation and is open to all ages.
The show closes Dec. 22 and artwork that has been purchased is available for pick up Dec. 24 until 4 p.m.
