The Nanaimo Harbourfront Library is hosting authors Jon Bartlett and Rika Ruebsaat to to give a reading and discuss their latest book.
The authors penned, Soviet Princeton: Slim Evans and the 1932-33 Miners’ Strike. The book tells the tale of Princeton B.C. as the town stood divided over the miners’ strike issue. There were stories of outsiders agitating the situation and mounted provincial police charging picket lines.
Slim Evans, the town’s legendary labour organizer, was kidnapped.
The book discusses Canada’s labour history and the Princeton events.
The reading is Monday (Jan. 25) from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Harbourfront branch.
