Two well-known Vernon singers are taking part in The Vibrant Vine Okanagan Villa Estate Winery’s popular summer Courtyard Concert Series.
Melina Moore (soprano) will be joined by Paul Moore (tenor), along with Alan Corbishley (baritone) and Gwen Plitt (soprano), accompanied by Carol Colpitts with special guest Doug Brown, in Here the People Sing, July 7, 8 and 9.
The show features the music of Les Misérables, based on Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name.
Staged in an open air courtyard at the East Kelowna-based estate winery, owned by Wyn and Marion Lewis, this story in song follows the plight of Jean Valjean as he is pursued by the implacable Inspector Javert through some of the most tumultuous years in French history.
In Hugo’s own words, “it is a progress from evil to good, from injustice to justice, from appetite to conscience, from corruption to life, from falsehood to truth, from nothingness to God.”
The winery will also host eight performances of Shakespeare Kelowna’s Romeo and Juliet, July 20 to 23 and 27 to 30, as well as The Phantom of The Villa, starring Welsh tenor and Phantom of the Opera star Peter Karrie and Melina Moore, Aug. 26 and 27 and Sept. 2 and 3.
“The Lewis family and their staff create a remarkable experience, from the very moment the guests arrive until the last note is sung. It’s truly magical,” said Melina.
