Hess returns for 14th annual Christmas at the Clarke

The event has raised more than $200,000 for two organizations

The most popular family Christmas event of the season, Christmas At The Clarke, is set this year for Dec. 18 at the Clarke Theatre in Mission.

As usual, the entertainment will be fantastic, headlined once again by Mission’s own Kenny Hess. In addition to Hess, there will be something for everybody’s tastes: old Christmas favourites, blues, rock and roll, gospel and jazz from a number of great groups including Horizon and Sweet. It’s an affordable, fun-filled night of family entertainment that is not to be missed, and has become a well-attended show each year.

In addition to the entertainment, there will be a silent auction where items donated by businesses and individuals from around the valley will be sold. There is also a raffle, offering a television, a bike and an e-reader as prizes.

Since the concert began in 2000, it has raised more than $200,000 to support the Mission Christmas Bureau and the transition houses operated by the Women’s Resource Society of the Fraser Valley, which provides assistance to women and children who are victims of domestic abuse.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $10 for children 12 and under. All proceeds go to the two organizations.

Tickets are available in Mission at London Drugs, Rex Cox Men’s Wear, English Tarts restaurant, Shoppers Drug Mart, Prospera Credit Union and Fraser Valley Building Supplies, and in Abbotsford at the House of James. For more information or for group tickets call show founder and producer John Agnew at 604-826-4903 or the Clarke Theatre at 604-820-3961.

This year’s event is sponsored by Prospera Credit Union, Fraser Valley Building Supplies, Country 107.1, Star 98.3 and Black Press.
