Horse expert launches book

A Nanaimo horse stable opens its doors to help celebrate the release of a local author’s book.

Cottonwood Stables hosts the launch of The Joy of the Journey: Exploring a Deeper and More Fulfilling Partnership Through the Path of Harmonious Horsemanship by Jodine Carruthers on May 8, beginning at 1 p.m.

Throughout the event, Cottonwood Stables, located at 3735 Jingle Pot Rd., offers mini riding lesson demonstrations; opportunity to groom lesson ponies and horses; and question time with Carruthers and Cottonwood’s owner Selena Pellizzari. From 2-3 p.m., Carruthers will demonstrate horse/human communication, followed by a dressage demonstration by Pellizzari.

The book focuses on the relationship between horse and master, at the same time leading to more authentic relationships in all areas of life through its simple, straight-forward guidance.

Carruthers is an equine behaviour specialist and expert in psychology, equine body language, interspecies communication and healing equine trauma.

Cottonwood Stables, which opened in 1973, is a full-service training and boarding facility.
