It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s comedy

The Tragically Comic Players is teaming up withThe Hub Arts Collective to present Super Heroes Comedy Night during Vernon Winter Carnival.

This year’s Vernon Winter Carnival dinner theatre is moving to The Hub.

Phil Wagner’s The Tragically Comic Players is teaming up with Matt Brown’s The Hub Arts Collective to present Super Heroes Comedy Night at The Hub, 2906 30th Ave., Feb. 7 to 9.

The comedy begins with monologues by some familiar super heroes and a few who are not so familiar – as heroes that is.

“You don’t want to miss professional comedienne Christine Pilgrim bringing her special brand of heroines to the stage,” said Wagner.

The second half of the show will see the super heroes doing improvisational theatre, much like the popular Whose Line Is It Anyway.

Brown’s improvisational theatre/comedy troupe, Full Frontal, will act as Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Black Widow, who might even be double dating.

“Who knows? Clarke Kent might also show up to show the sensitive side of everyone’s favourite superhero, while the ghost of The Lone Ranger may be a little satirically bitter about the new Disney Lone Ranger box office flop,” said Brown.

Amy Wagner is also making a guest appearance as Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the sentimental Looking for Angel. Though not a super hero, Inspector Clouseau might also show up in Searching for a Hero.

A light, casual dinner will be served at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m. Tickets for dinner and the show are $29, and a limited number of seats are available for the show only at $20.  Both are available at www.vernonwintercarnival.com or phone 250-545-2236.
