On Nov. 10, folk/jazz/blues duo Kat Wahamaa and Tony Rees will be performing in Fort Langley at the Fort Gallery.
The show is part of the Fort Gallery’s monthly First Thursday events, where they host a variety of visual artists, writers, poets and musicians from the local community — with this month’s happening on the second Thursday instead.
With their eclectic tastes in music, harmonic sensibilities and ability to fashion timeless tunes, Wahamaa and Rees bring to mind everything from Emmylou & Gram to Gilberto & Jobim, k.d. lang, Dave Alvin and Peggy Lee.
In September they received a Mission MUSE Award for Music and were recently nominated for a Fraser Valley Music Award in the Jazz category.
Also featured at this month’s First Thursday are gallery artists David Kimura and Suzanne Northcott, who will talk about their work in the gallery’s current exhibit, Ode.
Gallery hours are Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. For more info, visit www.fortgallery.ca.
