The five-week cross Canada tour starts in B.C. and continues east, including concert performances in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

For the past two years, Mellencamp has been touring across the U.S. and in Europe.

His long-time touring band including Michael Wanchic (guitar), Andy York (guitar), Miriam Sturm (violin), John Gunnell (electric and upright bass), Dane Clark (drums and percussion) and Troye Kinnett (accordion/keyboards) will be on hand for the show.

The show will include repertoire reflective of his entire career as well as music from No Better Than This, his recent album. His hits include: R.O.C.K. in the USA, Pink Houses, Paper in Fire, Hurts So Good and Jack and Diane.

Mellencamp will be joined by Canada’s own Cowboy Junkies who are his special guests for the Canadian tour

The band, since its formation in Toronto in 1985, has been a leading light on the indie scene and brings its signature introspective, quiet intensity to the No Better Than This Tour for the first time this summer.

“We are excited to have musical icon John Mellencamp perform at the AESC,” said Global Spectrum’s Jason Blumenfeld, general manager of the AESC “His music touches a wide audience and we can’t wait for him to bring his tour to our venue this summer.”

Abbotsford Mayor Bruce Banman said “this is exactly the level of entertainment that the AESC was designed for and this show will undoubtedly draw people from around the Fraser Valley and surrounding communities.”
