Just days left before Carnival

Whether you’re ready or not, the countdown to Vernon Winter Carnival is sitting at just five days away.

Whether you’re ready or not, the countdown to Vernon Winter Carnival is sitting at just five days away.

There is a great lineup of events as Carnival celebrates Canada’s 150th in 2017, said Carnival chairperson Deb White.

The 57th annual Carnival runs Feb. 3 to 12 with close to 100 events.

“Tickets are going fast so if you have an eye on a particular event you are urged to grab tickets as soon as possible,” said White. “Suds and Cider, Grandparents-Grandchild dance are sold out and there are 10 tickets left for Unwined downtown, and 12 for Pinot and Paint.”

A few events have also had to be cancelled.

The Lone Pine singles dance is cancelled due to frozen water lines at the ranch and Pianographicus is also cancelled.

“We are very excited to have our local entertainer, Shawn Lightfoot, perform at the Jopo luncheon at the Vernon Lodge while the senior jopo house and winter break out now have entertainment also. Alan Greenwood does a great Red Skelton impersonation and will wow you,” said White.

Volunteers are still needed for Carnival.

“We are looking for volunteers to be Carnival Cops, jopo and jopette,” said White.
