Musician Kempton Dexter is performing at the Fort Gallery as part of their First Thursday event on March 2 from 7 to 9 p.m.
On the first Thursday of each month, The Fort Gallery hosts a variety of visual artists, writers and poets, and musicians from the local community who share their gifts and creations.
Kempton is an artistic jack of all trades. He draws, paints and sculpts. He writes stories, plays, songs and music. He’s been the band leader of a number of dance bands, often using the stage name, Hi-Rise Dex.
These days, he prefers to perform solo, concentrating on his original material. A new CD, “Springtime in Vancouver” is set for release early March.
Also featured at this month’s First Thursday is artist Kristin Krimmel, who will talk about her work in Flora, an exhibit running Feb. 22 to March 12.
The Fort Gallery, located at 9048 Glover Rd., is open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
