Fiftieth Parallel will be kick starting summer 2012 at Island Style Creative Studio on June 23.
Merely three days after the solstice, the island-inspired progressive acoustic sounds of Phil Marchand and Jonathan Hinds will be echoing throughout downtown Campbell River and maybe even across to Quadra Island.
An opening slot for the highly-regarded Shane Philip almost a year ago to the day was followed by performances at Big Time Out and Rhythm On The Rock music festivals. With a 1986 camper van now their primary method of travel, Fiftieth Parallel will be returning to the festival stages this summer.
To enhance the duo’s acoustic sounds, Island Style Creative Studio – Shopper’s Row, opposite Foreshore Park – boasts a heavy aged wooden floor and stage.
This, coupled with ambient lighting, provides fantastic acoustics, a great atmosphere for a concert and creative vibe for jamming.
As well as the regular live music; photography, costume design, and local art are a part of what this funky studio is known for.
Everything creative and Island-styled can be found here – framed against an ocean view across the water to Quadra Island.
It is a place where artists and musicians can come together and inspire each other… Where ideas start over coffee, are nurtured, and brought to life through the collective talent of the local arts community – Island Style!
Fiftieth Parallel will be marking the start of summer 2012 on Saturday June 23 at Island Style Creative Studio in Campbell River.
Entrance is by donation (sugg. $10), doors open at 8 p.m., and the music will begin around 8:30 p.m. Their 13-track original CD Weapon Of The Future will also be available.
