Kelowna DJ Stickybuds (Tyler Marten) headlines the last Molson Canadian March Madness show Saturday at Vernon’s 2929 Nite Club.

March Madness ends with Stickybuds

Vernon night life is tuned up a notch with EDM concerts all month long.

The dance floor has been warmed up and on Saturday part four of the Molson Canadian March Madness event series concludes with the legendary and highly sought after DJ Tyler Martens, better known as Stickybuds.

After the recent success of multiple shows around the Okanagan, local company 13th Floor Entertainment has recently concentrated its attention on Vernon and by teaming up with Molson Canadian to present bass-heavy dance music in March Madness at Vernon’s 2929 Nite Club, said Josh Brazier, with 13th Floor.

The four-part series in a five-week period has seen DJs arrive from the Czech Republic, Los Angeles, Vancouver and now Kelowna with the arrival of Stickybuds.

“Tyler has built an extensive fan base over the years and EDM (electronic dance music) fans following the Molson March Madness series are in for another show for the memory books,” said Brazier. “We’ve been trying to bring Sticky to Vernon for quite some time now, so we’re pretty excited for it to finally transpire.”

Known for his funky sound, Stickybuds has been making a name for himself on the international circuit. He recently circled the globe dropping dance music for the masses and lands in Vernon after a tour of Australia and New Zealand and a brief stop in Hong Kong.

With 20 releases on multiple labels, Stickybuds continues to create and play dance floor friendly music of many different tempos. His sets are filled with funk, drum ‘n’ bass, glitch hop, reggae and breaks, all intricately woven through countless hours in the studio.

His work ethic and passion have also earned him a residency at B.C.’s  infamous Shambhala Music Festival since 2005 as well as performances at Glastonbury in the U.K., New Zealand’s Splore Festival, Nevada’s Burning Man and the legendary Space Club in Ibiza.

He was also nominated for Best New DJ, Best Track (with Ghetto Funk for Crowd Murder), and Best Producer at the 2012 International BreaksPoll awards.

Opening for Stickybuds will be Vernon’s own Dee Bass, who will be celebrating his birthday with a special set. The local DJ has been rocking local dance floors with fresh, new releases on his own Bassbong Records and other labels.

Joining Dee Bass  is Bassbong label mate Maxx Ammo, who is originally from L.A. and is now living in the Okanagan and has become a regular player in the outdoor music festival and club community.

Tickets to Saturday’s show at 2929 Nite Club, 2900-29th Ave., are available at the door or in advance at Downtown Internet Lounge, Bean to Cup, Dunas Skate & Snow, and Margherita’s Pizza.
