Beverley McKeen, B.C. singer-songwriter, will play Char’s Landing on Friday, Feb. 10.

Celebrate Valentines day at Char’s Landing on Friday, Feb. 10 with live music from B.C. songbird Beverley McKeen from 8-10 p.m.

The singer-songwriter combines insightful, evocative and emotional lyrics about subjects spanning life, humour and the environment, with unpredictable and memorable melody structures. Her muse graces three worthy CDs, On Purpose, Poetic Wax and her newest Auracles. She writes and plays her own music and has become a favourite of the Vancouver Island music scene.

McKeen’s songs are folk, roots, country, rock, blues and jazz, and they may crossover.  Her music isn’t usual, but the hooks are profoundly catchy.  Surely, it is Canadian.

McKeen is the closing credits songwriter for the movie The Diary that is soon to be released. She was awarded the ‘Cowichan Juno’ for Best Musical Production of 2013, Folk.

The artist has performed Cowichan Valley’s Sunfest in 2013, on the Chevy Main Stage, Islands Folk Festivals, featured 2003 and 2008 and the Salmon Arts Roots and Blues Fest, with Art Napoleon, and the 39 Days of July, in Duncan.  She has also hosted ‘Gals Who Write Songs’ for Duncan Showroom Productions over the past nine years.

McKeen performs regularly with award-winning engineer and gold record guitarist Ray Harvey of Kick Axe, as well as her talented band members, highly regarded drummer, Andy Okell and bassist/singer John Dryden of Trooper and Headpins fame.

McKeen has been a current member of the Songwriters Association of Canada, and has enjoyed membership with the Guild of Canadian Film Composers. She is just commencing the recording of her fourth studio album.

Tickets to her Feb. 10 show are $10 and on sale now at Char’s Landing or call 778- 421-2427 to charge card.
