Mission Secondary School’s production of The Man Who Came to Dinner will be playing Dec. 12-14 in the school’s studio.

This hilarious comedy takes place in a small town in Ohio in the weeks leading to Christmas in the 1930s. A famous radio show host, Sheridan Whiteside, is invited to dine with Ernest W. Stanley, a rich factory owner, and his family, but before he can make it inside, he slips on a patch of ice and injures his hip. The absent-minded town physician, Dr. Bradly, and his frantic nurse, Miss Preen, do their best to care for the patient. Whiteside wreaks havoc from his wheelchair feigning broken bones, and threatening lawsuits.

Mission’s Nate Grafton, who relies on his fame to manipulate all who come near him, stars in the show as Whiteside. He is supported by Meara O’Malley, who plays his secretary, Maggie, and Erin Patterson, who plays Lorraine Sheldon, a woman Whiteside takes an interest in.

The last laugh, however, is on the big man.

This is a seasonal delight and the play offers something for everyone. Tickets are just $5 each and available at the school, or by calling 604-826-7191.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. MSS is located at 32939 Seventh Ave.
