Music teachers will strut their stuff

Members of the Cowichan Valley Music Teachers Association will perform at St. Michael's in Chemainus this Sunday.

Cowichan has a reputation for producing more than its fair share of young musical talent.

One reason why will be performing this weekend in downtown Chemainus.

They are members of the Cowichan Valley Music Teachers Association, and on Sunday (June 16) they will be showing you their skills are not just limited to the classroom and the audition hall.

“Teachers of the Cowichan Valley will Strut their Stuff as they prove once again that ‘Those who teach — can also do,’ promoter Maisie Barnett said in a press release. “Enjoy a variety of beautiful masterpieces for solo and small ensembles, as well as an occasional bit of hilarious musical fluff.”

The show — titled Strutting Our Stuff — will feature violin, harp, piano and voice performing a variety of classical favourites.

Among the performers are Garth and Ruth Williams, Sue Doughty, Connie Masson, Rykie VanderMerwe and many more, including the Glenora Bell Choir, directed by Annette Lampson.

Among the songs: The Swan, from Carnival of the Animals, Dreyblatt, and Girl from Ipanema.
