North Okanagan Cycling Society hosts ski film

There’s more action from the slopes when Days of My Youth screens at the Vernon Towne Cinema Nov. 27.

The North Okanagan Cycling Society is disembarking the bikes and hitting the slopes to premier a new ski film in Vernon.

Days of My Youth, the latest film by Red Bull Media House, in association with MSP Films, screens Thursday, Nov. 27 at the Vernon Towne Cinema at 7 p.m.

Filmed over two winters in the mountains of B.C., Peru, Alaska, Utah and Colorado, Days of My Youth lays out the joys and struggles of shredding in the big mountain arena. It showcases the delight of childlike discovery that skiing can offer as more than just a form of recreation, but as a way of life.

The film features professional skiers Bobby Brown, Richard Permin, Michelle Parker, Markus Eder, James Heim and others, who explore the globe and escape to mountainous playgrounds to challenge their innermost hopes and fears.

Narrated to the prolific readings of Alan Watts, the film exposes the many joys and occasional struggles associated with a lifestyle built around skiing and reminds us of that special feeling of our very first time on skis; proof that skiing can keep you feeling young for a lifetime.

A fundraiser for the North Okanagan Cycling Society, all proceeds from ticket sales support building, maintaining, and advocating for new bicycle trails in the North Okanagan.

The event is also sponsored by Silver Star Mountain Resort, Attridge Ski & Board Shop, Olympia Cycle and Ski, Skyride Snowboard & Bike Shop, Sun Country Cycle, and Triumph Coffee, who have generously provided many great prizes to be given away to audience members.

Tickets are $15, and can be purchased online at the NOCS website (www.nocs.ca) under the events tab, at the door, or in advance at Attridge, Olympia,  Skyride or Sun Country.
