Open Stage to feature Bluegrass Fever

Local performers take to the stage at St. Michael’s Hall Saturday, May 21

Bluegrass Fever will be waiting in the wings as local performers take to the stage at St. Michael’s Hall Saturday, May 21, for the newly formatted Open Stage Concert series.

The doors will open at 6:15 p.m. and the open mic will be grasped by open stage performers from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m., with each of the local acts being allotted ten minutes – enough time for ‘three average-length songs,’ says a release from the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society (CVCAS).

Then there will be a 15 minute break, with Bluegrass Fever, the featured band, taking to the stage at 8:30 p.m. They are “one of Vancouver Island’s most popular bluegrass bands,” says the CVCAS release.

A five-piece band, with a banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, double bass and lots of great vocal harmonies, Bluegrass Fever “promises to be a toe-tapping evening of lively, upbeat music.”

You can find out more about the band at bluegrassfever.ca.

Admission to Open Stage is $5, with pre-registered open-stage performers admitted free. To register for a spot, email openstage@cvcas.com or call 250-246-1389.

Refreshments and snacks will be available in the hall during the event. For more information check cvcas.com.
