Share in a journey of self-discovery with poet Kamal Parmar as she reads from her new poetry book Fleeting Shadows.
She has crafted verses of beauty, life and childhood memories of India. These sensuous and evocative poems are a fine blend of the past and the present, juxtaposing one another so that the poet is not only a participant but also a spectator — as a new Canadian.
She also writes about the Prairies where she spent many years.
Parmar was born in India and has been passionately involved in writing for the past 15 years. Her genre is poetry and she has a few books to her credit. A number of her poems have been published in reputed Canadian literary journals and magazines.
Her poems are simple, though poised and evocative to set the reader thinking. While juggling wisdom with naiveté, she appeals for a touch of God in our lives. She resides in Nanaimo with her family.
The reading will take place at the Courtenay Library on March 17 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided and everyone is welcome.
