He’s sung professionally across Canada and studied with opera greats such as Sherrill Milnes and Louis Quillico.
And now well-known local tenor, voice coach and co-founder of Studio Moore and A Merry Moore Christmas Paul Moore is once again offering his talent and skills to North Okanagan singers with the formation of a new choir.
Moore is seeking soprano, alto, tenor and baritone voices, as well as an accompanist.
“Experience is helpful, but not necessary,” said Moore. “I will be teaching as I go, so we all speak the same language.
“I would like to work on rhythm, vocal technique, language and other skills.”
He grew up in Armstrong, but the well-travelled Moore has studied voice at The Juilliard School in New York City, UVic, McGill, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and the Israeli Vocal Institute.
In addition to his studies with renowned baritone Milnes and Canadian opera legend Quillico, Moore has studied with Ed Zambard at Juilliard; vocal coach Joan Dornemann, assistant conductor for The Metropolitan Opera and co-founder of the International Vocal Arts Institute; and Canadian coach and CBC personality Stuart Hamilton.
He has sung professionally in most major Canadian cities with opera companies and symphony orchestras as well as numerous national CBC broadcasts and is founder and director of the Okanagan Vocal Arts Festival and Opera in the Park.
“Having worked with some of the best teachers, coaches and conductors, I am always excited to pass on what’s in my head and put my own spin on it,” said Moore.
Moore’s newest venture will meet every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. starting May 2, at The Essentialist Church of Christ, 2001-45th Ave., Vernon. The repertoire may include classical choir music, opera chorus music and musical theatre.
“I tend to bring a lot of energy to everything I do, so I can imagine that this will be a fun project for everyone involved.”
The cost to join is $100 per month. For more information or to register, please contact Moore at paulmoore@telus.net or 250-549-0780.
