Ensemble Laude concert becoming a holiday tradition

One of Greater Victoria’s premier women’s choirs is coming to the West Shore for a Christmas concert that promises to brighten the day of even the staunchest Scrooge.

Ensemble Laude, with guest organist Nicholas Fairbank, will bring a variety of era-sweeping melodies to Metchosin on Dec. 18, from Classic composers such as Hasse and Hadyn to modern Scandinavian pieces by Pat Uusberg and Tone Ophus.

The works of contemporary Canadian composers such as Victoria’s Georgina Craig and Fairbanks are also presented with Ukrainian composer Galina Grigorjeva’s “In Paradisum” with what’s sure to be an engrossing experience for the listener.  In its 19th year, Ensemble Laude has gained a measure of local fame with its a capella performances and medieval repertoire.
