Radical Reels screens adventure in Vernon

Adrenaline junkies who can’t wait for November’s Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival can get their fix this weekend when the festival’s Radical Reels Tour screens in Vernon.

Adrenaline junkies who can’t wait for November’s Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival can get their fix this weekend when the festival’s Radical Reels Tour screens in Vernon.

Presented every year, the tour, not to be confused with the Best of Banff World Tour, is a culmination of the best sport films entered into the festival.

The Radical Reels program is made up of short, action-packed climbing, paddling, mountain biking, BASE jumping, skiing, snowboarding, and other adrenaline sport films.

“We always keep an eye out for films that feature a fresh approach, a new sport, and a radically independent spirit,” reads a release from the Banff Centre.

Since 2004, the Radical Reels Tour has visited more than 50 locations across the U.S. and Canada, from Sitka to Vegas, Atlanta to Toronto, and dozens of towns in between.

Many of the screenings, hosted by local organizations in each location, benefit not-for-profit and community organizations.

Valhalla Pure Outfitters is presenting Radical Reels for its screening at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre Sunday.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15, available at the brand new Valhalla Pure Outfitters location in Vernon at #111-5100 Anderson Way, or at the Ticket Seller box office, 259-549-7469, www.ticketseller.ca. All proceeds are being donated to the Vernon Search and Rescue.
