Students participate in last year's Arts Alive summer school.

Registration opens for annual arts-based summer school

As the days get longer, so does the amount of time per day to keep children entertained.

Summer holidays are not far away, which means Arts Alive, the summer arts school for children, is right behind.

Favourite programs from the school’s more than 25-year history, plus new offerings, begin in July.

The school opens July 4 with the senior musical theatre course for children ages 12 to 17, who will learn the musical version of The Secret Garden. Auditions take place May 29 and June 4. Please call 250-390-1466 for audition details.

Beginning July 11, Wellington Secondary School becomes the headquarters for week-long day camps for ages five to 10 as well as more than 40 other courses of shorter duration in art, music, drama and dance for ages four and up.

New courses include art for theatre, journaling, nature’s paint box and artist trading card extravaganza. For the first time, Arts Alive offers two circus skills courses in the final week.
