Four bands are competing tonight for the final spot in the battle of the bands grand finale which takes place on April 6, also at the Barking Parrot.

“Round two was amazing,” said Vanessa Jahnke, Rock The Peach organizer. “This weeks line up looks just as good as last weeks. Looks like our judges are going to have a tough decision ahead of them again.”

Tonight’s winner will join round one finalist The Malibu Knights and round two finalists The Flu to find out who will earn the right to kick off the Rock the Peach music festival this July.

Round three lineup:

Oceans and Lights

This three person alternative rock band from Penticton were established in 2009 and feel like they have only just begun to captivate the Okanagan area with their gripping melodies, lyrics of hope and rhythms that will have the audience nodding along. The band states their influences are Switchfoot, Relient K, The Classic Crime, The Almost, Showbread, Children 18:3, House of Heroes and Creed. Oceans & Lights say they aren’t just a band, but a family who wants to be the change they see in the world and they’re inviting their listeners along for the journey. Oceans & Lights is Tristan Calderbank (bass/lead vocals), Brendan McPherson (guitar/backing vocals) and Tiffany Calderbank (drums/keyboards).

Nuuka

Nuuka, which means little sibling in Greenlandic, is a indie band out of Kelowna. The band said their aim is to provide a soundtrack for that road trip, dance party, walk in the sun, sleepless night, airport layover or Vancouver City bus ride. The indie/pop/rockers have strong melodies, catchy hooks and harmonies that they hope capture your ears and maybe even your hands and feet.

Their long list of influences includes The Killers, Mars Volta, Metric, Arcade Fire, Regina Spektor and others. Band members are Jeremy Vautour, Anthony Martens, Zac Gauthier and Norrie Henderson.

Redfish

Redfish, a four person rock band from Vernon, landed on the Canadian music scene with their single In The City. They take listeners on a retro-current journey through various styles, genres and eras with complex textures and visual melodies.  Redfish claims hundreds of live shows and hotel rooms across western Canada have served as proving grounds for authenticity and truth in their message. Band members are Eddie Hagman (vocalist), Shane Sperling (bass), Dean Gordon-Smith (guitarist) and Steve Butler (drums, background vocals).

Daybeats

The Summerland-Penticton five piece original band plays a cool mixture of funk and alternative-rock. The Daybeats say they have soulful harmonies and riffs that will move the audience and keep the dance floors bouncing. Two female and one male vocalist join groovy slap riffs on the six-string bass with Floyd-like guitar tones and methodical rhythms. The Daybeats have opened for the Tragically Hip, Lee Aaron and Tupelo Honey. Members include Dan Bouchard (vocals/guitar), Ashley Bjorndal (vocals), Mandy Cole (vocals), Ty Surowski (bass) and Adam Levant (drums).
