Join chefs, sommeliers and connoisseurs alike to celebrate the finest Tastes of April Point tomorrow and Saturday.

Introduce your tastes buds to international and Vancouver Island wines, cheeses, champagnes, oysters, exotic coffees, and fine dining in this weekend celebration of wonderful indulgence.

Start off in style with a wine and cheese tasting on Friday evening in the oceanfront room overlooking Discovery Passage.  Little Qualicum Cheeseworks is bringing a magnificent selection including their award winning Island Brie, selected as the Great Canadian Grande Prix winner and voted the best Brie in Canada!

Some of the featured vineyards include: Alderlea, Averill Creek, South End Farms & Vineyards, Beaufort Vineyards, Mission Hill, Lucien Albrecht, Rodney Strong, and Antinori.

On Saturday morning, sleepy guests will be delighted to find Frog Coffee brewing up masterful coffee selections to get the day started.  Breakfast and exotic coffees will be the warm up for the delectable day ahead.

Saturday afternoon sessions include: “Seafood and Bubbly” featuring three types of local oysters paired with champagnes from Spain, Germany and France.  “Atypical Pairings,” including Porter and ice cream just to get started!  Finally, challenge yourself during the Sensory Tasting Experience to discover the scents and aromas infused in 5 different glasses of wine. Developed by some of Canada’s pre-eminent wine experts, this is a clever and very interactive experience…put your palette to the test!

After a not so serious seaside grape stomping session on the lawn, Ingo Grady, Director of Wine Education for Mission Hill will host the five course dinner with wine pairings.  “Ingo brings over 25 years of international wine experience and knowledge to this spectacular dinner,” says Susan Barcham of the Oak Bay Marine Group.  “We are delighted he’s a part of Tastes.”

And, just in case you haven’t indulged quite enough, the weekend event finishes with the magnificent Sunday Brunch at Painter’s Lodge.

Delicate and flavourful wines, gourmet food, spectacular scenery and knowledgeable presenters await…

The weekend package is $389 per person, including accommodation.
