Prepare yourself for an epic war of sperm vs egg.

The fringe comedy, Sperms Wars, is coming to Chilliwack for two shows on Oct. 20 and 21.

This hilarious one-man show follows the story of millions of sperm as they launch a high-stakes suicide mission to battle a mysterious and evil enemy, while in another world, the eggs gather together as the time for their monthly sacrifice to the uterus nears.

The writer and performer behind Sperm Wars, Jeff Leard, was inspired by his love for science, both fictional and non-fictional.

“I’ve always had a fascination with biology, specifically reproductive biology, and growing up I was a big science fiction and Star Wars fan, so I just really love making fun of the genre,” he says.

“It’s a very physical show with a lot of science fiction references and very high energy, and of course filled with very crude jokes.”

While the humour is definitely risqué, Sperm Wars is quick-witted and laced with intellect.

But the humour isn’t the only thing drawing it attention; with more than 15 characters and just one actor, Leard does a fantastic job of captivating his audience whilst committing to every role.

This show is perfect for fans of science fiction and taboo humour.

Sperm Wars will be coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre Oct. 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. Filled with hilarious entertainment and big laughs, it is the perfect night for any lover of fringe.

Tickets $25 and available at the Centre Box Office (9201 Corbould St.), chilliwackculturalcentre.com, or 604-391-SHOW(7469).

Note: This show has adult material and situations and may not be appropriate for all audiences.
