Nominated for Group of the Year at the 2016 Vancouver Island Music Awards, this freshly formed combo is made up of singer-songwriter-musicians Brodie Dawson, Christy Vanden and Tracy Riley.

Individually, the women have graced many venues as solo artists, but last year decided to combine forces and to perform in the round, with each taking a turn at singing one of her original songs, backed by the other two on harmonies and various instruments.

“Tracy and I have been touring and playing individually for years and Christy has been recently introduced to the scene, initially as my lead guitar player for the last couple of years, until last year when we decided to go on tour as a triple headliner. Things just really clicked, which led us to form this group over the winter,” said Dawson, who is originally from the Comox Valley.

She Could Be Trouble is working on a debut self-titled album, which is expected to be released in the summer.

“We are going to jump into the studio right after this tour, which we are very excited about,” said Dawson. “We are going to be pre-selling CDs at our shows. People can also sign up on our email list via the news tab on our website (shecouldbetrouble.com) to be notified once the album is released and ready.”

The group has embarked on a two-month B.C./Alberta tour, which started in April, and have been creating a whole lot of buzz wherever they go, so much so that they sold out shows on their Vancouver Island run.

They are currently heading up to Edmonton and back, playing house concerts, events and venues such as the Cloverdale Rodeo, Mikey’s Juke Joint in Calgary, UniTea Tea House in Ashcroft, Serenity Music in Clearwater, and the old schoolhouse in Ashton Creek that is Lorenzo’s.

“We’re stoked to bring our music and our grooves to some new territory this year and see where that will take us next. We’re all about going with the flow,” said Dawson..

The May 25 show at Lorenzo’s Café, 901 Mabel Lake Rd, east of Enderby, starts at 8 p.m. Cover is $10 at the door. Call 250- 838-6700 to reserve a seat.
